Prologue
THE WORLD AND US IN THE MIRROR OF THE PANDEMIC
Sharpening
”Yes, my kind friend, it is time to calmly accept the knowledge that small-mindedness is the final form of western civilization.” This sentence stated by Alexander Hertsen, XIX century Russian socialist, sounds almost romantic and naive today. Today: at the time of posttruth, fake news, ”third sex”, biological-cybernetic organisms, global digital concentration camp. In the postworld. In the Great Inversion.
For the first time in our lives, we are preparing an edition for people in quarantine. Whatever is really behind it, whether the virus came from a laboratory or rebelled nature, from the darkness of ”world order” architects or from a bat’s stomach, the Covid-19 pandemic is a major break. One after the world and people can never be the same again.
Furthermore, such breaks raise essential questions in each of us. We have an opportunity to question what is really important and necessary in our lives. To truly realize the value of what we’ve got. We can unmistakably measure our faith and our heart. To weigh our love, solidarity, goodness. Our courage, dignity and nobleness. To see whether our intelligence is a virtue or excuse, whether our mask is a rag accessory or personality trait.
There are no tricks, no evasions. We are here and the all-seeing eye is here too. Whatever you think, hide, say, echoes in the entire universe. Wherever you turn, you see an incorruptible mirror. If there’s still hope for you, you’ll realize how small and vulnerable you are. And how much you need the highest counselors, those reached solely with zealous prayers.
Only after the infection is over, we’ll ask each other about health. Until then, on both sides of the curtain, the illness and people suffering from all kinds of infections, including political and media, have priority.
